Introduction
The TMC Analysis (Turning Movement Counts) module within iNode is purpose-built for intersection-level analysis. It leverages connected vehicle data and telemetry sources to count and summarize vehicle turning movements at intersections, measuring how many vehicles complete each approach, left turn, through, and right turn, from each movement over defined time intervals, continuously across your selected study area.
Before configuring your study, it's important to understand what the TMC Analysis module analyzes and what it delivers. Understanding the scope of the available analysis ensures your study is framed correctly from the outset and that the outputs directly support the decisions you need to make.
The TMC Analysis module generates:
- Turning movement counts by movement and approach, including left turn, through, and right turn breakdowns
- Results filterable by weekday or weekend within the selected date range, time range, and defined bounds
- Map view displaying segment-level turning movement volumes and proportional share (%) per movement
- Time graph view showing average count per day and average daily sample size across the defined time set
- Exportable CSV and Excel reports
All outputs are timestamped and tied to user-defined study dates and time sets.

Data Availability and Updates
TMC Analysis data is continuously updated as it moves through iNode’s processing pipeline, where it is cleaned, aggregated, and validated to ensure consistent, reliable results. Data is typically available with a one-day lag, meaning studies can be submitted for as recent as yesterday or today; however, to achieve optimal sample sizes and the highest data quality, we recommend waiting up to 72 hours before submitting a study, as some GPS data providers deliver data with delays beyond 24 hours.
